How to reserve an accommodation

Remember to book your accommodation before other arrangements, such as flights, to ensure you have a place to stay during your trip. By following these steps, you’ll be well-prepared to find and reserve suitable accommodation for your journey. Before the search, you must have some facts and decisions.

Input parameters:

1. destination – the decision of whether you are visiting one location or you will travel around to more than one place. If you decided to go to more than one place you will have to search for accommodation in all the locations.

2. the number of travellers –  and what are their needs. That will determine the number of beds, how many rooms, and what kind of facilities you need.

3. number of days – approximately the number of days you stay at each location

4. time of the year – the dates of arriving and departing

Search sites for accommodation

The next step is to open one or more sites (Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Expedia, Hotellook) that offer accommodation and enter your parameters in the search. There you can narrow down the offers and easily find ones that match your desire.

Our advice is to choose the filters „free cancellation“ and „no payment in front“ so that you can immediately reserve the best offers. If things change or you find later a much better option just cancel the previous reservation without any expense.

use filters in the search

In your search choose some important filters, such as:

1. price limit – per person, per night or total price

2. accommodation type – hotel, apartment, hostel, camp, villa, etc.

3. facilities – private bathroom, toilet, breakfast included, elevator, WI-FI, TV, balcony, etc.

4. location – a very important filter is the micro-location of the accommodation. Gather information about the area you’ll be visiting, including popular neighbourhoods, proximity to attractions, safety, and local transportation options. Understanding the location will help you choose the best place to stay. That means how near is to all the sites you want to visit. Also how near is the public transport and how easy you can connect to your main arrival and departure station

5. anything else that is important to you

compare the pros and cons

It is better to take a smaller or a bit more expensive accommodation but close to the centre of the place and near the main transport stations. That is because it will save you a lot of time on transport. And money because local transport can be sometimes a bit expensive. Another plus is that you can pop in to refresh or have small rest during the day. And later go on strolling around finding local specialities

More tips for successful Accommodation reservation

Book in advance: Popular destinations and peak travel seasons can fill up quickly, so try to book your accommodation well in advance to secure your desired place and potentially get better rates.

Contact the property directly: If you have specific questions or requests, don’t hesitate to contact the property directly. This can help clarify any doubts and ensure that the accommodation meets your expectations.

Pay attention to cancellation policies: Before making a reservation, review the cancellation policies carefully. Life can be unpredictable, and having a flexible cancellation policy can be helpful if your plans change.

Secure your reservation: Once you’ve found the perfect accommodation, proceed to book it online or through the platform of your choice. Make sure to receive a confirmation email for your reservation.

Keep records handy: Save all reservation details, including confirmation numbers, check-in and check-out times, and contact information for the accommodation. Having this information easily accessible during your trip will be helpful.
