It is important to find the right transport to the destination. That means you do not waste too much time on your schedule on travel and do not get very tired.
In other words, you want to choose the one that gives you more time on location and the one that is comfortable. Also, you want to choose the best transport for the money you have.
How to do all that? (see more on Transport)
choose the transport
First, choose the mean of transport: plane, train, bus, boat or your car, or a combination. Of course, the mean will depend on the destination you go to. And it is, of course, your preference that will have an impact on the decision.
Search for transport
For all of those means of transport is the same principle. Start searching online far advance for the best buy tickets. There are very many search sites online that will help you find the best option. For example, for planes choose Kiwi.com, Aviasales, and Expedia, for buses Flixbus, Busbud, for trains RailEurope, Trainline and Omio. (see more on Transport).
When searching for deals they offer try to put in flexible dates around your choice. If you get very high prices, try some other search site, change the dates, or even the destination, and combine transports. That is a bit long process but if you start early enough (I usually start 6 months ahead ) you will find the best option for sure. Sometimes I started with the plane option and finish with the bus + train choice. It is an adventure from the beginning and you have to be open-minded for all kinds of solutions.
check
Check every week how prices are doing, going up or down. Sometimes some companies release special offers or discounts. Activate the price alerts you can find on some search sites and get notifications if something changes. Give yourself time (a month or two) to see if there are some improvements in prices getting down. When you realise that it is the best you will get – buy tickets!
